2010-2012
Turkey-Armenia Youth Symphony Orchestra
The Turkey-Armenia Youth Symphony Orchestra was founded in July 2010 in Istanbul by Anadolu Kültür, in order to contribute to the process of the two countries getting to know each other, upon the initiative of conductor Nvart Andreassian, the support of Cem Mansur and in collaboration with the Cadence Music Center in Armenia.
This project did not only contribute to Turkey and Armenia getting to know each other better through music, but it also enabled conservatory students from Turkey and Armenia to meet and produce together. They shared the same music stands, they transmitted their cultures to each other, and they listened to each other’s music... Among the most significant gains of the project was the fact that the students believed that problems between the two countries existed only at state-level; and that musicians, too, could play a role in the peace process.
