Ernst Barlach: Sculptor of the Modern Age Exhibition

Sculptor, painter and writer Ernst Barlach (1870-1938) was an important figure of German expressionism, and this exhibition featured more than 50 of his sculptures and more than 100 of his drawings in chronological order. The exhibition also featured a cinevision screening on the formation and development of his artistic identity, and also on the historical position of the expressionist movement.

The exhibition Ernst Barlach: Sculptor of the Modern Age was realized under the curatorship of Heike Stockhaus, and with the cooperation of the Istanbul Goethe Institute, Anadolu Kültür and the Hamburg Ernst Barlach Foundation.

The exhibition in Mersin was supported by Mersin University, Altemira Art Gallery, Mersin Municipality and Mersin Provincial Cultural Directorate; the exhibition in Malatya was supported by İnönü University, the Malatya Chamber of Architects and Battalgazi Municipality; the exhibition in Gaziantep was supported by Sanko Holding; the exhibition in Antakya was realized in partnership with Antakya Municipality, the Association to Improve Ancient Antioch, Lamia Organization and Savon Hotel; the exhibition in İzmir was supported by Ege University, Elektral, İnelli Plastik, Agis, TAİAD and Siemens; the exhibition in Antalya was supported by the Antalya Chamber of Architects, Istanbul Express Transport Company, Sun Express, Akvam and Akdeniz University.
