This project, developed to encourage bilingual publications that can serve the cultivation of respect to linguistic variety and minority languages, and to make a positive contribution to continuing debates on language rights, was realized in 2011 with the support of the Netherlands Consulate General in Istanbul, the Consulate General of Sweden, Istanbul and Global Dialogue. Five illustrated children's books by Swedish and Dutch writers were published in Kurdish-Turkish and Armenian-Turkish; one book in the series was also published in Greek-Turkish. A guide was also prepared as an appendix to the books with the idea that reading bilingual children's books, prepared across the world aiming both to teach languages and to cultivate respect for different languages/cultures, with parents and teachers would provide children with the opportunity to ask questions; and assist them in establishing connections with everyday life and foster interest and respect in different languages. In addition to information on languages and multilingualism in Turkey and the world, the guide also contains entertaining activities based on the stories in the books that can be done with children.
