Ani Mobile Application
The Ani Mobile App is designed with the objective of introducing the Archaeological Site of Ani, inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List, and its surroundings to a wider audience, and enabling access to scientific information about the site through modern communication technologies.
During the project implemented between 2018 and 2023, experts from Turkey, Armenia, Europe, and the USA came together for the workshops held in Kars, Istanbul, and Yerevan. The project team developed the Ani Mobile App in an inclusive, participative method.
The app presents information about the city of Ani, and 45 other structures around it in three languages while categorizing information such as history, architecture, art history, and architectural preservation. The users can visit Ani and its surroundings by listening to its multilayered history in Turkish, Armenian, and English.
What’s in the Ani Mobile App?
Timeline: Ani chronology with its prominent events from the 4th century to the present.
Explore: Four main routes based on the locations of different structures in Ani allow the users to visit and experience the Ani Archaeological Site on specific themes.
Quiz: A mini-test for users who want to measure their knowledge about Ani.
Dubbing in three languages: Ani’s and its surroundings multilayered history voiced by Mahir Günşiray, Şenay Gürler, Tilbe Saran, and Görkem Yeltan in Turkish, Dr. Elmon Hançer in Armenian, and Dr. Christina Maranci, Veronica Kalas and Robert Dulgarian in English.
